Oklahoma Panhandle State University, more popularly referred to as simply OPSU, is a public university in Goodwell, which is a town in Texas County, in the US state of Oklahoma, with a population estimated at a number of little over 1000 inhabitants, during the 2000 census.
OPSU was established in 1909 and it is a baccalaureate degree granting institution, its motto being "Progress Through Knowledge". It was created by an act of the Oklahoma Legislature, first starting as Pan-Handle Agricultural Institute, with the initial mission to provide secondary agricultural education for the Panhandle area.
Today, OPSU offers its students associate and bachelor's degrees in area such as education, history, business and nursing, through 6 schools, which are: School of Agriculture, Business and Technology, Education, Liberal Arts, School of Science, Mathematics and Nursing, including the University College.
OPSU's athletic teams are known as the Aggie, which compete in NCAA Division II, in various sports for men and women, including softball, football, golf, basketball and cross country. Their distinctive colors are crimson and blue.
